NOTICE: Mayor’s Order Prohibits Gatherings Over 10 & Closes Select Facilities Until May 11
All Parks and Recreation programs and events have been suspended through May 11. The Activity Center is closed until further notice. River front parks, playgrounds, the skate park, dog park, public restrooms and water fountains are closed. River front parks include: Rio Vista, City Park, Plaza Park, Veramendi, Bicentennial, Children’s Park, Crook Park, Veteran’s Memorial Park, Dog Beach, Capes Park, Thompson’s Island, Stokes Park, Ramon Lucio Park, and Wildlife Annex/Wilderness Park. San Marcos will continue to follow the guidelines set forth by the State Department of Health Services, the Hays County Health Department and the Centers for Disease Control. Current updates and helpful links may be found at www.sanmarcostx.gov/covid19info.
The City of San Marcos Parks and Recreation Department offers both family and adult only travel trips. Adult only trips are for 18 and up or 21 and up for the casino trips. Family trips are for ages 5 years old and up. Those under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
We go on trips to a variety of destinations including:
- Educational Sites
- Historical Sites
- Vineyard Tours
You must complete a Trip Policy and Waiver Form (PDF) when you register or prior to getting on the bus. Many of our policies have changed so please read the new form carefully. You can register online or at the Parks and Recreation Main Office. Registering at the San Marcos Activity Center or over the phone is no longer an option. If you require any ADA accommodations, you must contact us 30 days prior to the trip by submitting this form. 30 days notice is required for ADA accommodations and will be prioritized in the order in which they are received by our City ADA Coordinator.
