The Hills of Hays subdivision has a history of reported property and structural flooding during large rainfall events.
Instead of addressing drainage issues for each specific location, the City is taking a holistic approach in evaluating neighborhood-wide drainage issues and developing drainage improvements. The project is being conducted in the following phases:
Phase 1 (completed) included conducting a drainage evaluation with findings and recommendations presented in a Preliminary Engineering Report (PER). The PER proposed improvements consisted of new curb and gutters, storm sewer systems and a drainage ditch. Proposed improvements also considered comments received during a public meeting.
Phase 2 (on-going) consists of developing drainage improvement designs, construction plans and documents.
