The City of San Marcos Transportation Department has implemented a new School Zone Flasher Project. The project includes installing 42 new school zone flashers city wide with communication capability. The new school zone flashers will provide web based monitoring and remote access capability to maintenance personnel. The project will complete by the end of March 2017. The total project cost is $250,000.
Emergency Vehicle Preemption Project
The City of San Marcos Transportation Department has commenced work on the Emergency Vehicle Preemption Project. The project will consist of installing Opticom Emergency Vehicle Preemption Systems throughout seven TxDOT intersections city wide. The Vehicle Preemption System will preempt the traffic signal for emergency vehicles. The project is scheduled to be complete by late March of 2017. After the project has been completed, all signalized intersections within the City will be equipped with the Vehicle Preemption System. The total project cost is $77,000
