The City of San Marcos will be conducting a police officer entrance test on November 3, 2017. This hiring incentive is designed to attract fully qualified, TCOLE certified applicants into our selection process for this test.
Incentive Details & Eligibility
The hiring incentive is $3,000 for police officers who meet all the requirements and are hired from the November 3rd examination eligibility list. The incentive will be made in 2 payments: 50% on the first paycheck and 50% following successful completion of the San Marcos Police Department police officer training program (PTO). Candidates who do not successfully complete the PTO are not eligible for the second payment.
A service requirement with the City after hire is an assurance that the City will benefit from the employee's participation in this incentive. The service requirement will be fully satisfied after a three year period from the date of the employee's date of hire.
All applicants who qualify for the Hiring Incentive Program must sign the Hiring Incentive Agreement.
The Hiring Incentive Agreement will be effective and remain in force until the employee has completed 3 consecutive years of employment.
