Drought Response Opens in new windowDROUGHT RESPONSE 

Irrigation and sprinkler watering only allowed on MONDAYS before 10 am and after 8pm during the approved dates per the conservation and drought regulations. Hand watering with bucket or hose is allowed any day, any time. 

Historic Cemetery

The San Marcos City Cemetery, founded in 1874, is located on 45 acres at 1001 Ranch Road 12 in San Marcos. The cemetery is the burial ground for many Texas pioneers and veterans of wars dating back to the War of 1812.

The San Marcos Cemetery is under the facility management of the Parks and Recreation Department. Gene Bagwell of Maintenance Management provides upkeep of the cemetery.

Cemetery Cleanup

All items not in compliance with the cemetery regulations will be removed from the burial sites and held for one month at the cemetery maintenance shop. Prohibited items include glass containers, solar lights, spinners, swings, and wind chimes. Please view the Cemetery Rules and Regulations for more details. 

Wreaths Across America

Wreaths Across America is an annual event that takes place within the City Cemetery in mid-December. Donations made will go towards a remembrance wreath that will be placed on gravesites of veterans buried in the City of San Marcos Cemetery.
