The City of San Marcos Workforce Housing Task Force will present their final Strategic Housing Action Plan at a meeting on Thursday, Sept. 12, from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the San Marcos Activity Center, 501 E. Hopkins St. This is the last meeting of the Workforce Housing Task Force and the public is invited to attend.
The plan incorporates feedback from 15 meetings and working groups, and two open house events. The total citizen participation in the plan includes 749 individuals through community conversations with over 38 different organizations, as well as 200 written comments and 100 stories from the community. It includes four goals, six strategies, and 23 actions to address housing needs in San Marcos.
The Planning and Zoning Commission will make a recommendation on the action plan on Sept. 24 with final consideration of the plan by City Council on Oct. 15.
The Workforce Housing Task Force is comprised of 19 community leaders charged with assisting the San Marcos City Council in developing a strategic action plan to address the housing challenges faced by working families in San Marcos. The Strategic Housing Action Plan is part of the SMTX 4 All housing initiative.

About the SMTX 4 All Housing Initiative:
The San Marcos City Council identified Workforce Housing as one of their five Strategic Initiatives in 2018 and 2019. In order to address this initiative, a Workforce Housing Task Force has been formed to assist the City Council in developing a Strategic Housing Action Plan aimed at addressing housing needs in San Marcos.
