[ARCHIVED] Biannual City Cemetery Cleanup Starts Nov. 4

The City of San Marcos Parks and Recreation Department along with the Cemetery Commission and cemetery staff will embark on their biannual cleanup of the City Cemetery from Nov. 4 to Nov. 8.

All items not in compliance cemetery regulations will be removed from the burial sites and held for families to pick up for 30 days at the cemetery maintenance shop.

Prohibited items include glass containers, solar lights, spinners, swings and wind chimes. Fresh cut flowers are allowed, but must be removed within two weeks or when they become unsightly. Items that hinder maintenance or are not firmly secured or fastened to the ground or monument will be removed.

The City Cemetery is located at 1001 Ranch Road 12. The cemetery is open to visitors each day from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Business hours are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
