On Sunday, June 14 at approximately 9:05 a.m., the San Marcos Police Department (SMPD), San Marcos Fire Department and Hays County EMS were dispatched to a major traffic collision at the railroad tracks on East McCarty Lane. A red 2006 Toyota Tundra pickup was struck by a train, killing the driver. Witnesses report that the train crossing arms were down when the vehicle proceeded through the railroad crossing.
