The City of San Marcos is in the process of creating the Vision SMTX Comprehensive Plan and is collecting comments on the Draft Preferred Scenario Map to help guide and manage future growth in San Marcos.
The City of San Marcos invites the public to learn about the Draft Preferred Scenario Map and participate in an online comment map survey through April 10. The community can participate online at: https://arcg.is/1fe5KS
Additional opportunities to participate include take-home, in-person, and virtual meeting methods.
- A physical take-home toolkit of the comment map is available for pick-up in the Planning & Development Services Department. To pick up a toolkit, please email planninginfo@sanmarcostx.gov or call 512.393.8230, or visit 630 E Hopkins Street.
- On Saturday, March 19, the City will host an in-person Pop-Up Public Input booth at the San Marcos Farmers Market, 111 E San Antonio Street, adjacent to the Historic Courthouse from 9 a.m. to Noon.
- On Wednesday, April 6, the City will host a Virtual Community Presentation of the draft map from 5:30-6:30 p.m. A link to join the meeting will be available at www.visionsmtx.com.
“One of the key components of Vision SMTX is to develop a city-wide plan for how to best manage our future projected growth and meet the goals that are most important to our community”, said Andrea Villalobos, Planning Manager. “We invite you to participate in reviewing the draft map so that we can best plan for current and future generations so that all can live, work, and play in San Marcos.”

About Vision SMTX: The City Council provided direction to rewrite the City’s current comprehensive plan, Vision San Marcos, originally adopted in 2013. This comprehensive plan rewrite project, known as Vision SMTX, will establish the goals and vision for the future of San Marcos for the next 20 years. Vision SMTX will create a visionary document that guides long-term decision-making for key components such as housing, the environment, economic development, transportation, and land use.
