[ARCHIVED] Four Victims of Deadly Apartment Fire Identified

Three of the five victims of the deadly fire at Iconic Village and Vintage Pads apartments have been identified by the Travis County Medical Examiner’s Office in coordination with Justice of the Peace Maggie H. Moreno. One victim identification is pending release from the Medical Examiner, and the fifth victim of the fire remains unidentified pending DNA analysis.


The three identified are:

Haley Michele Frizzell of San Angelo (born July 10, 1999)

David Ortiz of Pasadena (born May 11, 1997)

Dru Estes of San Antonio (born July 5, 1998)


Pending Identification:

James Miranda of Mount Pleasant (born Dec. 9, 1994)


All four were previously listed as missing.


Still Listed as Missing:

Belinda Moats of Big Wells (born Aug. 24, 1996)


The five victims were found in building 500 at Iconic Village apartments. City officials have been in constant communication with family members since Friday, July 20.


Investigation Continues


The San Marcos Fire Marshal’s Office, in conjunction with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives National Response Team and the State Fire Marshal’s office, will continue investigation operations at the scene throughout the week. Once the scene has been processed and cleanup efforts begin, the investigation could continue for months.
