San Marcos officials will hold a ceremony Friday, August 31 to celebrate the grand opening of Fire Station #4, a $6 million fire station. The new facility will replace the current Fire Station #4, located at 404 Broadway, which opened in 1982.  The prior station has been plagued by both structural and functional shortfalls for many years.

The ceremony is scheduled for 9:00 a.m. at the site of the new station, 1404 Wonder World Drive, and the public is encouraged to attend.

The new station will have three drive-thru apparatus bays and sufficient living and sleeping accommodations for up to ten personnel. The station will be able to house a fire engine or ladder truck, a brush truck, and an ambulance. The new location will greatly improve response capabilities on the rapidly growing east side of I-35.

The new 11,182 square feet station took almost 17 months to complete by San Antonio-based Teal Construction Company.
