[ARCHIVED] First Group of Cats from Cruelty Seizure Available for Adoption

The San Marcos Regional Animal Shelter has 35 cats from the large cruelty seizure in Buda available for adoption after the felines received negative Histoplasmosis test results.

“After everything these cats have experienced, we’re excited to start finding their loving forever homes.” said Animal Services Manager Kara Montiel, “This whole endeavor would have been impossible without the support of local veterinary offices Tickle-Blagg Animal Hospital and Animal Care Center of Hays, and rescue partners PAWS of Central Texas, RedRover Responders and Animal Investigation and Response (AIR). Thanks to everyone who volunteered their time and donated much needed items to the shelter.”

All cats that receive negative test results and have been spayed or neutered will be immediately available for adoption at the shelter and online at www.sanmarcostx.gov/animaladoptions.

Remaining cats from the cruelty seizure are awaiting their second round of test results, undergoing continued medical treatment, or are scheduled for spay or neuter surgery prior to being made available for adoption.

Adoption Special

To encourage adoption of these lovable animals, the San Marcos Regional Animal Shelter is holding a $5 cat adoption special from Monday, December 10, until Saturday, December 15. All adoptions include the animal’s spay or neuter, microchip, rabies vaccination, kennel vaccinations, and city license.
