[ARCHIVED] Fire Chief Les Stephens Appointed to One-Call Board of Texas

In mid-December 2018, San Marcos Fire Chief Les Stephens was appointed by Governor Greg Abbott to the One-Call Board of Texas, a seven member board with authority over “Call Before You Dig” systems that notify the underground facility operators for excavation plans so pipelines and utility lines can be marked to prevent accidents

Les Stephens, Fire Chief“Les continues to go above and beyond to serve our community and lead our exceptional Fire Department team,” said City Manager Bert Lumbreras. “It’s exciting that the Governor has appointed him to this essential board and we are confident that he will be a valuable contributor.”

Chief Stephens’ appointment will last until August 31, 2021.

Additional board members include: William “Bill” Geise, retired, Austin; Joseph Costa, Chief of Police, DeSoto; George Spencer, Associate Vice President for AT&T, Austin; Joseph “Joe” Berry, Director of Damage Prevention at CenterPoint Energy, Pearland; Marcela Navarette, Vice President at El Paso Water Utilities, El Paso; Manish Seth, Partner at ABIP P.C., Missouri City.
