Jana Green Retirement Proclamation

Jana Green joined the City of San Marcos as an Administrative Secretary on September 19, 1984 and retired on January 31, 2019 after 34 years and 4 months of service.

Jana Green was promoted to a Planning Technician in May 1988; a Planning Assistant in October 1989 and a Planner in May 1991 and ultimately transferred to the San Marcos Fire Department in October 1994 as a Department Secretary and in December 2007 became their Administrative Coordinator.

She received the Haynes Award in 2018 for her long-standing commitment and affiliation to the San Marcos Fire Department.  She “raised” several Fire Chiefs including Dan O’Leary, Todd Derkacz, Len Nored, Mike Baker and Les Stephens.

Jana has been and will continue to be a huge part of the fabric of our organization. Her fingerprints are on everything from our hiring process to our retirement process, and a million things in between, and we are and happy and excited to see her enjoy the next chapter in her life.

Our Mayor of the City of San Marcos, Jane Hughson, proclaimed that January 28, 2019 as ”JANA GREEN DAY”, calling upon all citizens of San Marcos to honor Jana Green for her long career with the City of San Marcos and the San Marcos Fire Department and wish her well in retirement.

Thank you, Jana, for your years of dedicated service. You will be missed.
