The San Marcos Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with the City of San Marcos and SMCISD, is currently accepting applications for the LEGIT Summer Internship Program.

This program, designed for incoming San Marcos High School sophomores and juniors, will run from June 3 to August 5 and requires each participant to complete 100 hours. The supervisor at the host site will determine weekly hours based on the student’s schedule.

Agencies that are accepting interns include the San Marcos Animal Shelter, City of San Marcos Main Street Program, City of San Marcos Youth Services Division, San Marcos Area Chamber of Commerce, the Hays County Food Bank, SMCISD, and the County Clerk’s office.

LEGIT stands for principles the students will encounter during the program: Learning, Experience, Groundwork, Instruction, and Training. Students will acquire real-world experience and knowledge to further develop their skills in the workplace.

Participants must be at least 14 years old. If selected, students will be placed at one of several host agencies based on preferences selected in their application.

Students who complete the full 100 hours, along with other requirements determined by the LEGIT program coordinators, will be eligible to receive a laptop at the end of the program.

Applications are now available and can be found at http://sanmarcostexas.com/summer-internship-program/. If you have any questions concerning the LEGIT Summer Internship Program, please contact cmarler@sanmarcostx.gov or legitsmtx@gmail.com.
