Historical Facts:
Ramon Lucio was born on August 31, 1908. He was 35 years old when he died on November 20, 1943, in a battle in Italy. He was the first Mexican-American from Hays County to lose his life in World War II.
Art in Park
Guardians of the San Marcos River Thom Rogers. Installed in the summer of 2022, this piece depicts a creation story attributed to the Coahuiltecan people as well as the five spirit guardians of the river. Each of the piece's six panels features designs by San Marcos High School students that were selected by the San Marcos Arts Commission.
