Please fill out the request below and we'll get in contact with you. Please note dates and times are considered a request. SMFD's priority schedules consist of continual training, events, and work within an active 911 system. Smoke detector requests are a courtesy service we provide and will be fulfilled as a courtesy.
This program is designed for those that need assistance (financially, handicapped, or elderly).
If you are able to provide your own batteries, we would be happy to assist in installing your new batteries. For homeowners that may have trouble financially, we can provide (donated) smoke detectors and batteries. Providing your own units and batteries will help us further this assistance program throughout the entire community for those that need it.
This program is for homeowners only.
Renters: If you're a renter, please contact your landlord. Smoke detectors are to be provided by the property owner. Texas law does make landlords responsible for installing and maintaining smoke detectors in their units. There should be at least one smoke detector outside of each bedroom. We do not provide units to renters.
Newly built homes (0-10 years old) often have hard-wired smoke detectors systems installed. If you have one of these systems, they may require more than just the recommended 6 month backup battery replacement. The smoke detector itself, and not its battery, may require replacement. Please read your manual to call an electrician or contact your alarm company if needed.
**At least 3 days advanced notice required**
Please let us know a good, workable date/time range that you will be home and we can come by. *Please note this is a request and due to the nature of the firefighter's day and schedule, it might vary or be rescheduled.
Give us an idea of what time you'll be home
