Jessica Soukup, feminist, activist, LGBTQ speaker, and author of He/She/They - Us: Essential Information Vocabulary and Concepts to Help You Become a Better Ally to the Transgender and Gender Diverse People in Your Life, will discuss the vocabulary around evolving acronym LGBTQIA+, and then speak about the trans community and how to best be an ally for friends, family, coworkers, and the community at large, with a respectful question and answer session to follow.

Hays County Master Gardener Delbert Bassett will focus on the predominate trees in Hays County: the oak tree varieties and ashe juniper a.k.a. "cedar." Bassett will introduce the physiology of trees, common tree diseases like oak wilt, how to care for your valuable trees by proper pruning, watering, and fertilizing. Questions are welcome throughout the presentation.

To honor Hispanic Heritage Month the library is holding a family friendly fiesta with special musical guest Mariachi Nueva Generación, one of the leading university mariachis in Texas, performing at 10am. After, storyteller Gigi Mederos will lead children in a very special Spanish and bilingual storytime program. Don’t leave without creating colorful and fabulous tissue paper flowers and papel picado to decorate the library and to take home with you.
Unase a la diversión en la biblioteca y celebre con nosotros el Mes de la Herencia Hispana en esta fiesta para toda la familia. Con la especial actuación del Mariachi Nueva Generación como nuestros invitados musicales a las 10 am.
