  1. Adult Pickleball Open Play

    October 22, 2019, 9:00 AM - 11:30 AM @ San Marcos Activity Center Gym

    We have extended the hours for Adult Pickleball Open Play! It is now offered on Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 9:00 AM– 12:00 Noon and 9:00 – 11:30 AM on Fridays, at the San Marcos Activity Center. Pickleball is free for Activity Center members. Nonmembers will be charged the daily use rate of $3.00 for residents and $4.00 for nonresidents. Paddles and balls are available for those who do not have their own. If you would like to learn more about the sport, you are welcome to attend a session to observe and give it a try, free of charge.     Do you have a pet needing to be spayed or neutered? The Emancipet Mobile Clinic will be stopping in San Marcos. To make an appointment for Spay/Neuter, call 512-587-7729.   4. Claiming Sunday: The Story of a Texas Slave Community

    October 22, 2019, 6:30 PM - 7:30 PM @ San Marcos Public Library

    On this 400th anniversary of the beginning of slavery, the library will host Dr. Elvin Holt to moderate a panel discussion with Jo Snider on her book Claiming Sunday: The Story of a Texas Slave Community, a historical book illustrating the details of slave life in an East Texas community from 1830 to 1865. Dr. Holt will also interview local artist Robert (Bob) Jones on his collaboration with Snider and the creation of artistic depictions of the people who were enslaved in this account.
