Flush-Smart Rebate Program
Did you know that your toilet is one of the largest users of water inside your home? The average person uses over 5,000 gallons of water a year just flushing the toilet. That means each person is flushing about $60 down the toilet each year!
Replacing your old toilet with an EPA WaterSense labeled high-efficiency model will save you both water and money. Each person can save over 3,000 gallons of water a year, resulting in annual water bill savings of about $40 per person.
Need another reason to replace your old toilet? We’ll help you pay for it!
Replace your old high-volume toilet with a new high-efficiency model and the City will give you a rebate of up to $100. Replace your standard low-flow toilet with a high-efficiency model and the City will give you a rebate of $25.
Here’s how it works…
Step 1: Check your old toilet to determine the flush volume and manufacture date. If your toilet has a flush volume of over 1.3 gallons, it qualifies for a rebate.
Step 2: Purchase and install a new EPA WaterSense labeled high-efficiency toilet.
Step 3: Dispose of your old toilet in a manner that will prevent it from being reused. If you have City garbage service you may call (512) 393-8036 to arrange for a bulky garbage pick up.
Step 4:
Return the completed application, along with receipts for purchase and installation of your new toilet.
Step 5:
The City of San Marcos will call to schedule an inspection.
Step 6:
After the inspection you will receive your rebate check by mail.
