Getting A Library Card
Library cards are free to residents of Hays County. In addition, children
from Caldwell and Guadalupe counties, who live in the SMCISD, are also eligible for a free
card under our special "Cards for Kids" program. Out of county residents who
wish to borrow library materials may purchase a card for $40 per year or $15 for three
months. For a fee of $5.00, a limited service card is now available and is good for 3 months. Patrons may have 2 items checked out and may have unlimited use of the library's computers. A photo ID together with verification of current mailing address is required. We
accept a drivers license, lease agreement, checks with your address imprinted, voter registration card, or utility bill as verification of
current mailing address. Links to library card applications are provided above and must be brought to the library in person to receive a library card.
TexShare Card
TexShare cards are also free. Present a TexShare Card from your "home" library at the Information desk to apply for a San Marcos Public Library card. A TexShare card allows a checkout of two items at a time in addition to use of the library computers. TexShare Lending Policy
