Our Parks

The Parks and Recreation Department maintains 246 acres of park land in San Marcos. The San Marcos River winds through 150 acres of this parkland that includes: three miles of jogging trails, playscape equipment, picnic tables, blacktop basketball courts, volleyball set-ups, and a vast array of unique and interesting river wildlife. The river offers canoeing, snorkeling, scuba diving, swimming, fishing, and tubing in crystal clear spring fed waters.


Park Rules
Park Curfew is from 11:00 p.m. – 6:00 a.m.
Overnight camping is prohibited in all parks.
Animals must be properly restrained at all times.
No Glass Containers
Vehicles must be parked in designed parking areas.
Motorized vehicles are prohibited on all trails.
Alcohol is prohibited in Children’s Park and the Softball/Little League Fields.
The Playscape is a tobacco free area.
Spearguns are prohibited in the San Marcos River.
No jumping or diving from bridges.
No standing or stopping in the spillway of any dam or flood control structure.
No standing or stopping on railway bridges.
Collection of firewood is prohibited in all parks.
Fires are permitted in designated pits only.
Use of metal detectors is prohibited in all parks.
No nude sunbathing.
All habitat and wildlife is protected.

Note:  If you are going to have a jump castle or some other type of regulated amusement equipment in the park, you must obtain a city permit from the Parks and Recreation Department before the event!
