Financial Crimes
Financial crime is a growing trend across the United States and also in the San Marcos community. The San Marcos Police Department Criminal Investigations Division actively investigates reported financial crimes of all types including Identity Theft, Credit Card Fraud and Check Forgery. These investigations are often very complex and require a significant amount of research. Due to privacy laws and regulations, it often takes a Detective weeks or months to get information from financial institutions that you as a victim can get within days. The following is a document with a list of information needed for a Detective to conduct a thorough investigation for your case.

Extended Bar Hours
At a regular meeting August 19, 2008, the City Council voted to place on the November general election ballot a non-binding referendum that would authorize the City Council to adopt an ordinance extending the hours for the sale of alcoholic beverages for on-premises consumption to 2:00 a.m. During the general election November 4, 2008, San Marcos voters approved the non-binding referendum. At a workshop session December 2, 2008, the Council directed City Manager Rick Menchaca to study possible implications of extending the hours for the sale of alcoholic beverages to ensure that the City was prepared. Mr. Menchaca assembled a task force to assist in identifying potential problems and finding resolutions for those issues. >>View the Interim Report on Extended Bar Hours

The ACT (Achieving Community Together) Campaign is a collaborative effort of the City of San Marcos and Texas State University to work together on common values, mission, and goals. Formed in June 2008, ACT is the result of innovative problem-solving and citizen participation. The focus of ACT is to promote positive relations between students and long-term residents through education, community connectedness, and resources. Together we can create an environment respectful of everyone.

The Community Alert page has been developed to allow an opportunity to resolve concerns between city and student residents and ensure compliance with local and state rules and laws. Requests made to Community Alert will on average take approximately 2-4 working days before the student(s) will be contacted. If there is an emergency situation, please contact the San Marcos Police Department. Report a concern
